“Human” is the sixth studio album in 16 years (and the second in two, the creative spark shines bright), full speed ahead for the trio whose line-up – Lennart A. Salomon (vocals, guitar), Florian Sikorski (keyboards) and Martin Weiland (keyboards, DJ) – has stayed constant since they hit #1 on the Billboard dance charts with that track.
The new record feels very much like SONO have cast all their baggage overboard as they navigate uncharted waters. Unburdened by expectations, they have found the freedom to create the music they want to create. The temptation to follow trends, chase the white whale of the ultimate hit no longer occupies their minds. There is a lightness of being to every track on the album and yet, stripped down to its essential structure, the SONO sound is stronger, more ripped than ever.
Lennart (voice and lyrics): We decided not to concern ourselves with any expectations from outside the band – radio, club DJs or fans – not for egoistic reasons, but to get closer to the art of making music. No more compromises, no second guessing how to reach more people. We were completely focussed on our own ideas of sound, production and songwriting.
